The longest day. Arrival at 4:00 AM Japan time. Tried to get our bearings on how to get to Nakiitabashi but had a bit of trouble with the crazy rail system. Our host met us at the train station and from there the adventure began and hasn't really stopped. We dropped our stuff and went out to Shinjuku, taking in the sights and sounds of Japan, crazy lights, arcades, polite people and beautiful clean streets. Over the next few hours we milled about, even joking about the mileage we must have covered walking all over Shinjuku. From shrines to the vibrant nightlife, it's definitely a fun district. We visited the 100 yen store (dollar store), had some street udon/soba and tempura, followed by an amazing shabu shabu meal. By the end of the day our feet, bodies and minds were exhausted, 2-3 hours of sleep followed by 16 hours out.
This is only the JR part of the rail system.. does not include the numerous subways and private lines.
Gizzard and cartilage, tasty.
Shinjuku Park, closed because of Dengue scares.
Shabu Shabu
Yeah..
